Letters He Said It Dear Adriene, Thanks for that strong dose of Reality. I was especially affected by the piece, "Who's Looking Out for Moms?" (June 99) As a man and father, I'm forced to endure the misogynist air that pervades among men. It is exactly like racism--only even much more pervasive and incessant. Men belittle women, like morons, all the time, every day. Its an absolute cesspool of "thinking." As a father, it struck me what you said about fathers. There is no group of fathers organizing for their children, their wives, or their families. But there sure as hell are a ton of groups out there organizing for themselves! They try mightily to shortchange their wives (and children). The sickening thing to me is, they use these "father's rights campaigns" as a way to assuage their guilty indifference (often outright brutality) towards their wives and kids, and make their friends think they really give a damn for their families! It's bloody repulsive! (And I'm a damn man!) I detest Madeleine Albright--but you bring up a good point. She is so disgusting because she has signed on as a player in the man's game of murder and mayhem! Here's ten bucks. Please send me the next X amount of issues. You all write clearly and convincingly. That's my cup of tea. Although I consider myself strongly feminist, and do a "lot" of the childrearing (as men go), I'm going to do more. My wife doesn't complain about it for nothing! We have two sons, Stanton, who is ten and Stephen, who is four. Thanks! I needed that! Cheers to you and your excellent publication! Anthony Rayson
