To Said It Readers:

Said It didn't begin spontaneously, but it began without a clear plan. All I knew six months ago was that I was going to put out an issue once a month, filled with feminist free speech, and print however many copies I could, until, hopefully, it caught fire.

Said It is starting to spark. It's still tiny, but it wouldn't have gotten even this far if it weren't for all the people who have pitched in--those who subscribed, advertised, helped distribute, wrote, donated some time or expertise, offered encouragement and praise.

The most supportive of all and sundry has been Joanne Alcantara, Said Itís copyeditor, layout designer, and co- pioneer. Unfortunately Joanne is leaving for Connecticut this September. I've tried to talk her into staying, but it didn't work. She insists on pursuing a higher education, far, far away from here. So I have to simply wish her well. Many, many thanks to Joanne for putting so much of her time and talent and "neurotic nitpicking at eleven o clock at night" into every issue. And for putting up with my neuroses, which include waiting till the last minute to get things done. Joanne, I'm going to miss you terribly.

Now for some good news: Sue Scharff, who has long been on the collective of synapse (women's literary publication) will be Said It's new copy editor and occasional contributor. Sue has a solid reputation as a proud mouth feminist, and her talents and keen eyes will be appreciated.

Other good news: more people are joining in, helping out. We will soon form a group to organize the nuts and bolts and business side of Said It. This is what is needed to make the paper grow. Your participation is welcome. Some bold and rugged feminist activists have volunteered to get things rolling on this end.

Wanna join in on the fun? We need help with organizing, distribution, layout design, writing, graphics, website, and so on. Pitch in, eh? Lend your time and talents. Call (206) 527-0273, or email saidit@scn.org. I look forward to hearing from you!

Said It's tattered editor,

Adriene
