The Washington Welfare Reform Coalition is kicking off Reality Check 2000, an effort to monitor the impacts of welfare reform on families in Washington state. This project is the only comprehensive effort by citizen volunteers to educate, organize, and connect with low-income parents around the state.
Last year, the group shared the personal stories and statistics of almost 1,400 low-income families with legislators, the media, and community members. This activity generated the first significant doubts about the "success" of Workfirst. Your help is needed to make this project a reality in 2000! Call the Coalition at (206) 694-6781 to get involved!
